Jack's Life, written in his own words:

After High School, I joined the Marine Corps in 1953 for three years. Spent 18 months in Japan, and the remainder in Camp Pendleton, CA.

Married Beverly Waseca in 1954 and raised 4 children. Dan, Sue, Patrick and Mary. Beverly and I were divorced. In 1986 I married Gunhild Morlan. She has 4 children, Dani, Garvin, Chris and Barb. Together we now have 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

After the military, I worked 10 years for the Inland Empire Paper Company as a maintenance electrician. Following that I drove truck for Arrow Transportation Company and Georgia Pacific until retirement in 1999.

In 1978 I took up running and loved it. I've run all but the first Bloomsday in 1977, and completed 200 Marathons and Ultra Marathons to date. My wife runs too, and this is what we do for most of our hobby and entertainment. We've traveled all over the U.S.,Canada and Germany for vacations that include marathons. Camping and beach hiking are also favorite activities.
