CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE
BLOOMSDAY ROAD RUNNERS CLUB”

A recipient who fits the spirit of the award is selected by prior honorees, and it is with great pleasure that I get to announce the honoree for 2012.

A few of us old timers are proud to have a second generation runner and BRRC member in the family, and this year’s winner is such a person.

This person was “drafted” starting at about age 11 or 12 to help out when the parents volunteered at a running event, and thus received an early education on what running and being a member of the BRRC is all about.

It seems this person has been around FOREVER, always with a smile, and willing to step in and help whenever needed.

This person has been a remarkable club president, race director, and race volunteer.

And all the while found the time and energy to develop into a fabulous runner.

And this person is the ONLY PERSON I KNOW WHO’S FILLED JACK’S SHOES

And now, I proudly present LORI BURATTO.

Gunhild Swanson
Reference to "Filling Jack's (Swanson) shoes".
Jack owned a pair of racing flats he wore once and didn't like. Lori happened to have the same size feet so she ended up with the shoes. She promptly went on to win her first marathon at the North Olympic Discovery Marathon that June. They made a poster of her finish photo, with her wearing those shoes. She went on to run a bunch of PR's wearing them.
